This shows the layers I went through in re-flooring our kitchen, bathroom and dining room. Other people call it a mud room, but we call it a dining room. Anyway, you've got:
- the gray linoleum tile that we first saw
- the fiberboard underlayment that we also first saw, since a lot of the linoleum tile was missing in the kitchen
- the possibly asbestos layer that came off in chunks and was a big mess and we disposed of properly after messing around awhile very improperly and subsequently panicking a bit
- the plywood underlayment for said possibly asbestos flooring, which by the way was a lovely gray with a charming pink Purina checkerboard motif in the center
- tarpaper—okay, this was pretty easy
- the original floorboards. why were some painted blue? couldn't figure out the pattern
Fun, huh? |
