You get what you need

Sometimes your kids know exactly what you need, even more than you do. One day, a couple months ago, Anna and I were having one of the regular disputes over naps (I think she should take one, she doesn’t) and I was getting really frustrated and tired. I was about 8 months pregnant at the time. I finally said, OK, I’m going to take a bath. She said, good. And proceeded to sit with me while I bathed, pouring water over my belly and generally being as sweet as can be.

A few weeks later, I was feeling grumpy, but had gotten over it and we were playing. I told her that Daddy would be coming in soon to eat quiche with us, a late lunch/early dinner at 3PM. She said “Mommy take walk.” I told her that I would indeed be going out, but not until after eating. She said, “No, mommy walk first.” She knew that I’d be happier after a walk!
